Stick to the basic rule of replacement when you declutter your home. If you go out and buy something new, try to find one thing in your home to get rid of.

Shelves are a wonderful alternative to storing knick-knacks, and they can showcase all of your favorite pictures, trinkets, and more.
Declutter your home’s surface space and invest in tasteful shelving options! It looks great, and it gets things up and out of the way.

Get crafty! Repurpose old furniture and create unique storage pieces. Use an old ladder to create a one-of-a-kind bookshelf, or turn a hanging shoe rack into a place to put your cleaning supplies.
The possibilities are nearly endless, you just have to use your imagination!
#4 Multi-Purpose Storage
There are many fashionable ways to store items without jeopardizing the beauty of your home. For instance, there are lovely, decorative ottomans that double as storage space with comfortable, cushioned lids that hide your clutter away.
You can also turn an old cedar chest into a multi-purpose coffee table! Create welcoming areas while sneakily keeping your stuff out of the line of sight.
The most charitable way to get rid of extra stuff is to donate it! There are many individuals who are in need of clothing, bedding, books, cookware, and more.
If you have useful items you need to get rid of, give them to someone in need. You will feel better, and you will be helping someone in ways you can’t even imagine.
#6 Get Rid of Duplicates
If you have a dozen different pairs of the same shoes, three similar blouses, or other duplicate items, consider picking your favorite and tossing the rest.
In reality, you don’t need a lot of the same thing. Get rid of the extras so you don’t get stuck filling your home with things you really don’t need.

If your house is stacked floor-to-ceiling with things like books, CDs, and DVDs, it may be a good time to go digital. Many media sources are available for download on the internet.

Whenever you shop for anything, from groceries to clothes, stick to a plan and get only what you need. When you go clothes shopping, have a pre-determined idea of the outfit you want and make sure you don’t already have something similar at home.

When the seasons transition from warm to cold, consider rotating your clothes. When the warmer weather comes out, hang up your t-shirts and shorts and store your bulky sweaters and jackets into suitcases or containers to optimize your closet space.
